Heart Support Groups
Patients who have experienced a heart-related health issue may find help and comfort in speaking with others who have experienced the same. At Community Memorial Hospital, we offer several heart-related support groups.
Happy Hearts: An ICD support group
Happy Hearts is a support group for implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) patients and guests. An ICD is a device that works to treat rapid, life-threatening heartbeat events in order to prevent sudden cardiac death. After surgical implantation into your body (usually under your collarbone, on either side of your chest), the ICD monitors your heart's rhythm continuously and acts according to how the device has been programmed by your doctor - primarily for dangerous types of fast rhythms.
The support group is open to all Froedtert Health patients or anyone else interested in attending. The group meets quarterly to provide resources, information and networking among members, and is free of charge. For more information or to be placed on our mailing list, call Linda Bremberger at 262-257-5383.
Although many women think of heart disease as a man's problem, more women than men die of heart disease every year. Fortunately, women can lower their risk for heart disease by taking a few simple steps. WomenHeart is for women who have struggled with or are at risk for heart disease. This new support group meets the third Wednesday of each month from 6:30 - 8 pm in the Treiber Conference Center. For more information, call Careconnection at 262-251-1001 or 800-246-8332.
