Providing Care and Treatment to More than 20,000 Patients Every Year
The Emergency Department at Community Memorial Hospital in Menomonee Falls provides care for individuals with emergent, urgent and non-urgent problems. The care is a collaborative effort of medicine, nursing and other disciplines.
Our doctors are board certified emergency physicians and our nurses are certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, stroke and trauma care. Along with high-tech skills, our staff treats our patients and their families with care and compassion.
Certified Advanced Primary Stroke Center
Community Memorial Hospital is a Certified Advanced Primary Stroke Center, the highest level of stroke care recognized by the Joint Commission. Our multi-disciplinary team of emergency department specialists, neurologists, neurosurgeons, radiologists, nurses, therapists, pharmacists, technicians and more all work together to significantly improve outcomes for stroke patients.
With our new telestroke technology (secure videoconferencing), our physicians are able to consult in real-time with board-certified stroke neurologists from the Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin academic medical center. This technology allows for faster diagnosis and treatment of stroke patients.
Our Emergency Department is strengthened by the availability of and access to highly trained specialists in trauma, neurosurgery, cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery including robotic surgery, orthopaedics, respiratory, obstetrics, gynecology, psychiatry and other specialties when the need arises.
The combination of next-generation technology and coordinated care between the Emergency Department, Heart and Vascular Center, and Surgery Services allows for high-quality, timely care — all in your community.
Local Emergency Medical Services
Our strong relationships with local emergency medical services (EMS) providers help us provide the right care at the right time. Community Memorial Hospital serves as the medical control for five local fire departments — Menomonee Falls, Germantown, Richfield, Lisbon and Lannon. Our emergency departments coordinate and communicate with EMS professionals on the road so our physicians can gain vital medical information to prepare them before patients arrive at the emergency department. We're ready with the staff and equipment patients need whatever the emergency.
And we can help emergency patients who need follow-up care find primary care physicians and specialists. We also offer many options for primary care, same-day and evening walk-in care at our affiliated clinic locations throughout southeastern Wisconsin.
The Emergency Department participates actively in tissue procurement and facilitates organ donation. We are also closely involved with community disaster preparedness.
Levels of Care
Our highly skilled, board certified emergency physicians, nurses and other staff provide compassionate care for people with all types of urgent and emergency health care needs, providing three levels of care:
Minor care for emergent but not life threatening health issues, such as an ear infection. We can help when you can't wait until morning to be treated at a walk-in clinic or your physician's office.
Emergency care for immediate health care needs, such as chest pain, broken bone, falls or severe pain.
Trauma for life-threatening, critical needs such as a stroke, heart attack or injury from a vehicle accident. Community Memorial Hospital is a certified Level III trauma center.
