These helpful tips are brought to you by the Froedtert Health Human Resources Team.
- The three-second handshake starts the interview and establishes a first impression. Avoid a limp fish handshake, so your interview doesn’t end up dead in the water.
- Turn off your cell phone. Or better yet… don’t bring it all. Instead of an untimely text or call, let your polished interview skills ring out success.
- Proper footwear is essential for your interview, just as it will be on the job. Wear socks and leave the Crocs at home.
- Exhibit a positive attitude. The interviewer is evaluating you as a potential co-worker. Behave like someone YOU would want to work with.
- Interviewing for your first job? Leave your parents and friends behind. You can always meet up to celebrate after you’ve landed the job.
- Knowing how to spell and pronounce the company name you are applying to is key. Take the Froedtert Health challenge!
- Talk too much? Prepare concise answers to typical interview questions so you can get it right when the time counts.
- Be respectful of all individuals you encounter before, during and after your interview. That receptionist you joked with or were rude to may be asked his or her impression of you.
- Be on time for your interview – or better yet – arrive 10 minutes early… to demonstrate a good first impression.
- Avoiding eye contact may lead your interviewer to think you are not interested in the job. Maintain good eye contact during the interview, but remember, this is not a staring contest!
- Try to avoid the phrases that pop up in your head such as… umm…. like… you know…. Pause for a few seconds to gather your thoughts before each response.
- Be prepared with thorough pre-interview research. The quickest way to a good impression is to demonstrate interest by knowing something about the organization you are applying to.
- To join Southeastern Wisconsin’s premier, growing healthcare system, demonstrate your enthusiasm and desire to learn and grow with the best – working with great people and state-of-the-art equipment.
- Keep your online application and resume current. Update your credentials and be prepared to verbally express how you have enhanced your skills and education over time.
